Description
Searey Control Stick Bushing Kit
If you notice your control stick has some play (mostly in pitch), first try slightly tightening the nut on the front of the Control Stick Bearing. If you tighten it too much then it will add friction to the aileron system.
If you tighten the nut (and the play is still there) it is likely the hole is elongating in aluminum parts the bolt passes through. I typically see this on Searey’s with around 800 hrs.
This kit contains the parts to add a bushing to both control sticks. In order to install this kit, you will need to disassemble
- The control sticks
- Control Stick Bearings (from both the control sticks AND Control Column Torque Tube
The drill the hole (both the aluminum and the control stick bearings) to 3/8″ ID. Deburr, then test fit the bushing using a debur tool to open the holes (or a reamer) so that the bushing passes through all parts.
Once the bushing fits and all parts are reassembled, install the new AN bolt using a fender washer on the both ends of the bolt to capture the bushing.
Please Note: This is NOT a kit manufactured by the factory, and therefore is ONLY legal to be installed on Experimental Classic or LSX Searey’s.
