3220-049-Tail-Wheel-Steering-O-Ring
These are used with the Progressive Aerodyne Dual Fork Tail Wheel only. These are not used with the Maule Tail Wheels! The factory installs two per steering arm for a total of four. The Searey designer has recommended 3 per side, for a total of 6. Generally these need to be replaced approximately every 6 months, and it is important to keep petroleum products away from them.
When changing these, the steering cables need to be be removed. Installation make sure to twist:
- The cable on the left ONE FULL TURN COUNTER-CLOCKWISE and then re-install to the steering arm.
- The cable on the right side ONE FULL TURN CLOCKWISE and then re-install to the steering arm.
8/12/2026 PLEASE NOTE BEFORE ORDERING:
The previous O-Rings (Opaque or Translucent color) have not been in stock at any of the vendors I have looked at. I have had one customer report his opaque color O-Ring broke right after installation.
The rubber O-Ring here (black) is currently undergoing testing on a couple of Searey’s being monitored by the Searey designer. These are a softer durometer so they will be easier to install.
